Landowners

Why should you care?

Your titled land has the potential to sequester (remove from the atmosphere and hold) carbon.  Both the soils and whatever vegetation grows on your land can sequester carbon.  In fact, the soils and the vegetation are going to sequester carbon whether you participate in the carbon market or not.

If you make efforts, which can be as easy as planting one tree species instead of another, to increase the sequestration on your lands, you could earn extra income.

Depending on what you do with your land, using part of the land to sequester carbon may offset emissions originating from other parts of your holding.
